Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian artist and singer. She has produced many studio records. DiFranco has released over 20 albums. A feminist icon widely recognized as Grammy recipient Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement, and was among the pioneers to establish her own label the year 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23 1970 her parents Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco and Dante Americo DiFranco, who made acquaintance while studying at in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is Italian heritage, while her mother hails from Montreal. Ani Difrasco wrote and sang the track "32 Flavors". The track was first released on DiFranco's 1995 sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl. It was also featured on the soundtrack to the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologized for hosting a workshop in Louisiana on an old plantation for slaves. She cancelled it but the majority of people (including the author of this article) didn't detect remorse. DiFranco apologized a couple of days afterwards. Although she is known for her role as the Little Folksinger, her songs have embraced a variety of styles and collaborations that range from Pete Seeger to Chuck D to Prince.
