Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is a American as well as a Canadian music producer and singer. She is the author of more than twenty albums. The music of DiFranco has been described as folk and alternative rock although it has additional influences from hip hop, punk and jazz. Ani DiFranco has been widely acknowledged as a female icon, and Grammy-winning performer, is regarded as to be the father in DIY music. She was one of the first musicians to create their own labels in the year 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd, 1970. She was the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco whom she had become acquainted while at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is Italian origin, while her mother was born in Montreal. Ani diFranco wrote and sang the track 32 Flavors. It is a track from her album from 1995 Not a Pretty Girl, which was her sixth album for her studio. Another version of the song can be heard on the soundtrack to the 1999 Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate. In 2013, DiFranco apologized for her actions after it was announced that she would be hosting 3 days of workshops on a former Louisiana slave plantation.
